The Power Triangle for Women
The Power Triangle for Women system is a way to educate women to develop capabilities or elevate their level of impact. By understanding and practicing the elements on the triangle, a woman is able to see an expansion of her power.
Each element of the triangle has meaning:
Action: take action, including using one’s voice
Networks: be informed of communities of people who we share a common interest
Energy: balance masculine and feminine energy
All three elements are interdependent, therefore focus on each element equally to create the best outcome.
The Power Triangle Research
While getting her MBA at Simmons Graduate School of Management (the only all-women’s MBA in the country), Nelson saw a consistent disconnect between women and power, and, consequentially, the lives they were able to create for themselves. Drawn to this disconnect, she devised The Power Triangle System as her thesis project, offering a way to educate women to reach their full power potential.
In this process, she was advised by nationally renowned educators: Jean Baker Miller, M.D., PhD., author and first Director of what is now the Wellesley Center for Women (WCW); Joyce Fletcher, Ph.D., Advisor, Professor at Simmons Graduate School of Management and Author; and Christina Winter, L.P.C., M.A., M.S.
Today, The Power Triangle System is at the center of all of the consulting work we do with women. Nelson continues her research to respond to needs in the market place, creating original content and programs that educate women on power relative to leadership, presence, self-expression and happiness. But at the heart of it all is this simple system. As Nelson describes: “The Power Triangle System is a tool to help women navigate in both organizations and their individual landscapes. It’s a tool for women to become more powerful – to tune into that internal source of inspiration, energy and guidance rather than away from it.”
